Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala will take a loan of Rs 1000 crore to address the financial crunch. The state government will rely on this amount to distribute salaries and pensions in the first week of June.

This is the first time Kerala is availing a loan granted by the Centre for this financial year. The Union government had demanded to consider the loans of the public sector enterprises in the state’s credit. However, by considering the request of Kerala, the Centre allowed to take a loan of Rs 5000 crore to ensure a temporary succour to the state. The state will be availing Rs 1000 from this amount.

But the Centre has not replied to Kerala’s request to avail further credits.
