Kerala style of social distancing; Shashi Tharoor's tweet on shopkeeper's trick goes viral
Even when the government imposes strict restrictions including lockdown to stop coronavirus from spreading, it is not fully practical to stay inside when we are short of essentials. In this tough phase of life, people are proving that necessity is the mother of invention.
MP Shashi Tharoor shared a tweet on his Twitter handle including a picture of a merchant intelligently maintaining social distance while selling the products. The picture went viral shortly and led to further possibilities in similar situations.
"How to maintain physical distance between shopkeeper & customer while buying essential supplies -- the Kerala way!" Shashi Tharoor captioned the picture. Within a day, the tweet garnered over 19,000 likes and 2800 retweets.
The picture shows a long pipe set up by the shopkeeper in front of the shop. He puts the items through the pipe so that the buyer can safely receive it on the other side of the pipe maintaining physical distance. As people cannot survive without essential supplies, closing down all shops would result in a disaster. So, innovative ideas like this will definitely help to survive.
The Twitterati responded to the tweet very positively stating that maintaining social distance and fulfilling one's responsibilities at the same time deserves appreciation.
