New Delhi: The Kerala State Election Commission demanded to release a single voter list at ward levels for the elections to Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. Kerala State Chief Election Commissioner A Shajahan IAS has submitted a request to revise the voters list to the Election Commission of India.

Currently, voter list at the assembly booth level have been considered for Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, while ward level voter list has been used in the states for the elections to local bodies.

The election commission can reduce the expenditures and work load by publishing a single voter list for all the elections. If the central commission releases the ward level voter list by including the details of house and ward number, the state election commission can also rely on this list for the elections to the local self governing institutions.
