Kerala spent Rs 7.26 cr for Sampath’s office while serving as special representative in Delhi

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government has reportedly spent Rs 7.26 crore for A Sampath’s office, during his term as the special representative of the state in New Delhi for a period of 20 months. The budget documents presented by the Minister for Finance noted expenses worth Rs 3.85 crore in 2019-20 and Rs 3.41 crore in 2020-21 in the namer of Kerala’s special representative.

The Finance Department revealed that Sampath received a salary of Rs 14,18,244 lakhs from August 2019 to June 2021 while he was a government representative in Delhi. The benefits received by him even during the period of Covid-induced lockdown had sparked controversy earlier.

The Kerala government has decided to appoint former Congress leader KV Thomas as the new representative for the state in Delhi.
