Palakkad: Kerala Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer acknowledged that his comment on Shafi Parambil in the Assembly of not getting elected next time was inappropriate. The speaker withdrew his statement during the assembly session held on Monday.

The speaker had bluntly stated that Shafi Parambil will not win from Palakkad in the next election when the Opposition mounted a banner across the speaker’s dais on March 15. The Opposition started to protest when the speaker denied permission to move an adjournment motion against police action on UDF councillors at Kochi Corporation. The speaker repeated thrice that MLA Shafi will lose in the election next time as the public is watching the opposition’s action in the assembly.

Meanwhile, the speaker condemned the parallel meeting conducted by the opposition in the assembly. Speaker also criticised the opposition for recording the assembly proceedings on mobile phone for circulating it. He warned of strict action if the same act is repeated.
