Kerala sees severe shortage of pulse oximeter; price goes up to threefold

Thiruvananthapuram: Amid increasing Covid-19 cases in the state, Kerala is witnessing a severe shortage of pulse oximeter which is used to measure the oxygen level and heart rate of coronavirus patients without taking blood for testing.

Also, if available, the machine is sold at threefold its price.

Earlier the oximeters from known brands were available at Rs 600. But now it is priced at Rs 2000.

According to medical store owners, the shortage was seen from April first week leading to high price.
