Kerala sees dip in daily COVID cases, logs 9470 new infections on Saturday
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 9470 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, informed health department in a press release. With 101 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 26,173. The test positivity rate was recorded at 10.72 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-1337, Thiruvananthapuram-1261, Thrissur-930, Kozhikode-921, Kollam-696, Malappuram-660, Palakkad-631, Kottayam-569, Kannur-561, Idukki-522, Pathanamthitta-447, Alappuzha-432, Wayanad-318 and Kasaragod-185.
A total of 88,310 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 332 wards of 227 local self-government bodies.
3,66,250 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 3,52,851 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 13,399 people are in hospitals. 927 people were taken to hospitals on Saturday.
Among the 1,13,132 active Covid cases reported, only 10.4 percent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
54 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 8971 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 397 patients remains unidentified. 48 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 12,881 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram –2241, Kollam-863, Pathanamthitta-521, Alappuzha-725, Kottayam-867, Idukki-586, Ernakulam-1318, Thrissur-1421, Palakkad-662, Malappuram-1045, Kozhikode-1333, Wayanad-378, Kannur-753 and Kasaragod-168.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,13,132 in the state. 46,44,211 people were recovered from the disease so far.
