Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 2,100 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Kerala on Sunday. The test positivity rate continued to decline and was recorded at 4.04 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Kozhikode – 315, Ernakulam – 219, Thrissur – 213, Malappuram – 176, Thiruvananthapuram – 175, Kollam – 167, Kannur – 158, Alappuzha – 152, Kottayam – 142, Pathanamthitta – 115, and Kasaragod – 97, Palakkad – 78, Wayanad – 47 and Idukki – 46.
Meanwhile, no UK returnees tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 99 people returned from foreign countries tested positive for the virus infection. 83 of them have recovered. So far, 11 patients have been identified with the mutant virus strain.
51,948 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 1,18,95,875 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
13 deaths were confirmed due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state has touched 4,300. Test results from Alappuzha NIV are awaited to confirm other suspected Covid deaths.
61 of the coronavirus patients came from outside the state. 1,771 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 253 persons remains unidentified.

15 health workers also tested positive. Among them 10 were from Kannur, 3 from Palakkad and 1 each from Idukki and Wayanad.
Meanwhile, 4,039 recoveries were reported on Sunday.

There are 40,867 active Covid-19 cases in the state. 10,31,865 people have recovered from the disease. 1,71,616 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 1,65,922 are under home/institutional quarantine and 5,694 people are in hospitals. 656 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
No new hotspot was identified or removed on Sunday. Currently, there are 356 hotspots in the state.
