2895 deaths in first 8 months of 2022; Kerala Police urges caution

Thiruvananthapuram: The number of people who lost their lives in road accidents from January till August 2022 stands at 2895, according to the data shared on Kerala Police official handles. The data also revealed that 29,369 road accidents happened during the period.

Kerala Police has urged caution with special reference to Vadakkencherry bus accident and requested the netizens to report traffic violations. The netizens can report it to ‘Shubhayatra’ WhatsApp number 9747001099 in the form of texts, photos and videos.

Meanwhile, the data sheds light on the number of violations that happened this year till August. 30 lakh people were slapped fines for violations. Some of the major cases are:

Rash and negligent driving-16,657 individuals

Drink and drive-32,810 individuals

Total number of vehicles in Kerala is around 1.5 crores and one among five vehicles in Kerala have violated traffic rules.
