Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 6,334 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday, informed Health Minister K. K. Shailaja in a press release.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam – 771, Kozhikode – 579, Kottayam – 647, Pathanamthitta – 534, Kollam – 628, Malappuram – 637, Thrissur – 468, Alappuzha – 415, Thiruvananthapuram – 468, Idukki – 302, Wayanad – 238, Kannur – 299, Palakkad – 241 and Kasaragod – 87.
One UK returnee tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 66 UK returnees have tested positive for coronavirus. Their samples were sent to Pune NIV for further tests. Out of them, 9 have been identified as mutant virus strain.
61,279 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is at 10.34 percent. So far, 90,90,900 samples have been tested across various priority groups. 21 deaths have been confirmed in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state has reached 3,545.
93 of the coronavirus patients came from outside the state. 5658 people have contracted the virus through contact. 66 health workers also tested positive. Among them, 15 were from Kannur, 12 from Ernakulam, 11 from Pathanamthitta, 6 from Malappuram, 5 from Kozhikode, 4 each from Palakkad, Thiruvananthapuram, 3 from Wayanad, and 1 each from Alappuzha, Kasaragod. Thrissur, Idukki and Kottayam.
6229 recoveries have been reported on Thursday. The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram – 333, Kollam – 1023, Pathanamthitta – 798, Alappuzha – 398, Kottayam – 697, Idukki – 129, Ernakulam – 713, Thrissur – 402, Palakkad – 123, Malappuram – 572, Kozhikode – 525, Wayanad – 235, Kannur – 220 and Kasaragod – 61.
There are 2,09,828 people under observation in the state. Out of this, 1,98,107 are under home/ institutional quarantine and 11,721 people are in hospitals. 1,482 people were taken to hospitals on Thursday.
3 hotspots were declared on Thursday. Meanwhile, 2 areas were removed from the hotspot list. With this, there are a total of 406 hotspots in the state.
