Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 5,848 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, informed Health Minister K. K. Shailaja.
The district wise distribution of positive cases are: Malappuram - 920, Kozhikode - 688, Ernakulam - 655, Kottayam - 567, Thrissur - 536, Kollam - 405, Palakkad - 399, Alappuzha - 365, Thiruvananthapuram - 288, Kannur - 280, Wayanad – 258, Pathanamthitta – 208, Idukki – 157 and Kasaragod – 112.
60,503 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is at 9.67 percent. So far, 65,56,713 samples were tested in different priority groups.
32 deaths were confirmed in the state on Saturday by NIV Alappuzha. With this, the total number of coronavirus fatalities rose to 2,390.
Out of the total number of positive cases, 53 people came from outside the state. 5,137 people contracted the virus through contact. The virus source of 613 cases has not been identified.
The district wise statistics of contact cases are: Malappuram - 880, Kozhikode - 645, Ernakulam - 509, Kottayam - 561, Thrissur - 518, Kollam - 400, Palakkad - 198, Alappuzha - 338, Thiruvananthapuram - 195, Kannur - 244, Wayanad – 246, Pathanamthitta – 173, Idukki – 121 and Kasaragod – 109.
45 health workers tested COVID positive on Saturday. The district wise cases of COVID positive health workers are: Thiruvananthapuram – 7, Ernakulam and Kannur – 6 each, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Wayanad – 5 each, Palakkad – 4, Malappuram – 3, Kollam and Kasaragod – 2 each.
5,820 people have recovered from the disease. The district wise statistics of negative cases are: Thiruvananthapuram - 337, Kollam - 410, Pathanamthitta - 268, Alappuzha - 551, Kottayam - 588, Idukki - 88, Ernakulam - 492, Thrissur - 590, Palakkad - 405, Malappuram - 1023, Kozhikode – 460, Wayanad - 148, Kannur – 288 and Kasaragod - 172.
Currently, there are 61,393 people undergoing treatment in the state. 5,67,694 people have recovered from the disease.
3,15,024 people are under observation across various districts in the state. Out of this, 2,99,962 people are in home/institutional quarantine and 15,062 people are in hospitals. 1,721 people were taken to hospitals on Saturday.
Two new hotspots were identified in the state on Saturday while 2 areas were removed from the list. In total, there are 444 hotspots in Kerala.
