Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has reported 5378 COVID cases on Thursday, informed Health Minister K K Shailaja. Meanwhile, 5970 people have recovered from the disease.
The district wise distribution of positive cases are: Malappuram- 719, Kozhikode- 686, Thrissur- 573, Ernakulam- 472, Thiruvananthapuram- 457, Kottayam- 425, Kollam- 397, Palakkad- 376, Alappuzha- 347, Idukki- 256, Kannur- 226, Pathanamthitta- 207, Wayanad- 151 and Kasaragod- 86.
55,996 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is at 9.60 percent. So far, 60,74,921 samples were tested in different priority groups.
27 deaths were confirmed in the state on Thursday by NIV Alappuzha.
Out of the total number of positive cases, 76 people came from outside the state. 4670 people contracted the virus through contact. The source of 582 cases have not been identified.
The district wise statistics of contact cases are: Malappuram- 689, Kozhikode- 632, Thrissur- 557, Ernakulam- 340, Thiruvananthapuram- 310, Kottayam- 421, Kollam- 390, Palakkad- 229, Alappuzha- 326, Idukki- 212, Kannur- 184, Pathanamthitta- 156, Wayanad- 142 and Kasaragod- 82.
50 health worker have been tested COVID positive. The district wise cases of COVID positive health workers are: Kozhikode- 10, Ernakulam- 9, Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur- 6 each, Pathanamthitta- 5, Malappuram and Wayanad- 3, Kottayam, Thrissur and Kasaragod- 2 each, Kollam and Palakkad with 1 case each.
5,970 people tested negative on Thursday. Their district wise statistics are: Thiruvananthapuram- 488, Kollam- 481, Pathanamthitta- 168, Alappuzha- 852, Kottayam- 204, Idukki- 84, Ernakulam- 807, Thrissur- 589, Palakkad- 461, Malappuram- 789, Kozhikode- 709, Wayanad- 129, Kannur- 150 and Kasaragod-59.
Currently, there are 64,486 people undergoing treatment in the state. 5,16,978 people have been recovred from the disease.
3,17,195 people are under observation across various districts in the state. Out of this, 3,00,925 people are in home/ institutional quarantine and 16,270 people are in hospitals. 1891 people have been taken to the hospital on Thursday.
Five new hotspots were declared in the state and 6 areas have been removed from the hotspot list. In total, here are 545 hotspots in the state.
