Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 5,375 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, informed Health Minister K. K Shailaja.
The district wise distribution of positive cases are: Malappuram - 886, Thrissur - 630, Kottayam - 585, Kozhikode - 516, Ernakulam - 504, Thiruvananthapuram - 404, Kollam - 349, Palakkad - 323, Pathanamthitta – 283, Alappuzha - 279, Kannur - 222, Idukki – 161, Wayanad – 150 and Kasaragod – 83.
58,809 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is at 9.14 percent. So far, 63,21,285 samples were tested in different priority groups.
26 deaths were confirmed in the state on Tuesday by NIV Alappuzha. With this, the total number of coronavirus fatalities rose to 2,270.
Out of the total number of positive cases, 114 people came from outside the state. 4,596 people contracted the virus through contact. The virus source of 617 cases has not been identified.
The district wise statistics of contact cases are: Malappuram - 849, Thrissur - 610, Kottayam - 581, Kozhikode - 484, Ernakulam - 333, Thiruvananthapuram - 241, Kollam - 343, Palakkad - 190, Pathanamthitta – 192, Alappuzha - 271, Kannur - 186, Idukki – 103, Wayanad – 137 and Kasaragod – 76.
48 health workers tested COVID positive on Tuesday. The district wise cases of COVID positive health workers are: Thrissur – 12, Ernakulam – 8, Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam – 4 each, Kannur - 6, Palakkad and Wayanad – 3 each, Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode and Kasaragod – 2 each, Kottayam and Idukki - 1 each.
6,151 people have recovered from the disease. The district wise statistics of negative cases are: Thiruvananthapuram - 467, Kollam - 543, Pathanamthitta - 232, Alappuzha - 542, Kottayam - 399, Idukki - 79, Ernakulam - 659, Thrissur - 683, Palakkad - 493, Malappuram - 862, Kozhikode – 590, Wayanad - 138, Kannur – 321 and Kasaragod - 143.
Currently, there are 61,092 people undergoing treatment in the state. 5,44,864 people have recovered from the disease.
3,10,611 people are under observation across various districts in the state. Out of this, 2,95,494 people are in home/institutional quarantine and 15,117 people are in hospitals. 1,494 people were taken to hospitals on Tuesday.
3 new hotspots were identified in the state on Tuesday while 6 areas were removed from the list. In total, there are 501 hotspots in Kerala.
