Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Friday reported 3,671 new Covid-19 cases, Health Minister K. K. Shailaja said. The test positivity rate was recorded at 5.41 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur – 490, Kozhikode – 457, Kollam – 378, Pathanamthitta – 333, Ernakulam – 332, Malappuram – 278, Alappuzha – 272, Thiruvananthapuram – 234, Kottayam – 227, Kannur – 177, Wayanad – 159, Palakkad – 130, Kasaragod – 119 and Idukki – 85.
Meanwhile, three of the UK returnees tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 94 UK returnees tested positive for the virus infection. 82 of them have recovered. So far, 11 patients have been identified with the mutant virus strain.
67,812 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 1,13,39,805 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Trunat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
14 deaths were confirmed due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state has touched 4,164. Test results from Alappuzha NIV are awaited to confirm other suspected Covid deaths.
91 of the coronavirus patients came from outside the state. 3,317 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 250 persons remains unidentified.

13 health workers also tested positive. Among them 4 were from Kozhikode, 3 from Kannur, 2 each from Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur, 1 each from Kollam and Kasaragod.
Meanwhile, 4,142 recoveries were reported on Friday. The district-wise statistics of recoveries is: Thiruvananthapuram – 372, Kollam – 518, Pathanamthitta – 512, Alappuzha – 263, Kottayam – 548, Idukki – 108, Ernakulam – 345, Thrissur – 276, Palakkad – 173, Malappuram – 213, Kozhikode – 432, Wayanad – 114, Kannur – 128 and Kasaragod – 140.
There are 51,390 active Covid-19 cases in the state. 9,96,514 people have recovered from the disease. 2,23,191 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 2,15,245 are under home/institutional quarantine and 7,946 people are in hospitals. 905 people were taken to hospitals on Friday.
No new hotspots were identified on Friday while 2 place were removed from the list. Currently, there are 370 hotspots in the state.
