Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 558 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity rate was recorded at 2.62 per cent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-119, Kottayam-69, Kozhikode-61, Thiruvananthapuram-57, Kollam-50, Pathanamthitta-37, Thrissur-37, Kannur-33, Idukki-30, Palakkad- 18, Alappuzha-17, Malappuram-12, Kasaragod- 9 and Wayanad-9.
A total of 21,229 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
15,996 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 17,541 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 469 people are in hospitals. 79 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
Among the 4,802 active Covid cases reported, only 10 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
Two deaths were reported within the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the health department reported 8 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. Apart from this, 64 more deaths recorded late due to the delay in obtaining the documents were also added to the list of COVID deaths. With this, the death toll climbed to 67,550 in the state.
Four of the new patients returned from outside the state. 525 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 26 patients remains unidentified. 7 health worker also tested positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, 773 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 122, Kollam- 38, Pathanamthitta-53, Alappuzha-5, Kottayam-91, Idukki- 72, Ernakulam-193, Thrissur- 62, Palakkad- 5, Malappuram- 26, Kozhikode-73, Wayanad- 16, Kannur- 13 and Kasaragod- 4.
64,56,428 people were recovered from the disease so far.
