Kerala records 9,445 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, death toll nears 30k
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 9,445 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, informed the health department in a press release. As many as 93 fatalities have also been reported. Total death climbed to 29,977. It includes 529 deaths that are certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the updated rules.
The TPR stands at 11.42 percent as 82,689 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam- 1,517, Thiruvananthapuram-1,284, Kozhikode- 961, Thrissur-952, , Kottayam- 840, Kollam-790, Idukki- 562, Pathanamthitta-464, Malappuram- 441, Kannur-422, Palakkad- 393, Alappuzha- 340, Wayanad-333and Kasaragod-146.
The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 211 wards of 158 local self-government bodies.
2,68,639 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 2,60,359 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 8,280 people are in hospitals. 619 people have been taken to hospitals on Sunday.
Among the 76,554 active Covid-19 cases reported, only 9.4 percent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
28 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 9,069 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 297 patients remains unidentified. 51 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 6,723 recoveries were also reported in the state.
