Kerala records 9,246 new COVID cases and 96 deaths on Thursday; TPR at 10.42 percent
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 9,246 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, informed the health department. With 96 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 26,667. Test positivity rate was recorded at 10.42 percent. A total of 88,733 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram- 1,363, Ernakulum- 1,332, Thrissur- 1,045, Kottayam-838, Kozhikode- 669, Kollam- 590, Idukki- 582, Alappuzha-513, Kannur- 505, Pathanamthitta- 490, Palakkad- 455, Malappuram- 437, Wayanad – 249 and Kasaragod-178.
The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 211 wards of 158 local self-governments. Strict restrictions will continue in these places.
As many as 3,33,634 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 3,22,648 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 10,986 people are in hospitals. 771 people were taken to hospitals on Thursday.
39 of the new Covid patients were returned from outside the state. The infection source of 437 patients remains unidentified. 52 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 10,952 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 1212, Kollam-726, Pathanamthitta-610, Alappuzha-616, Kottayam-722, Idukki-631, Ernakulam- 1,191, Thrissur-1,354, Palakkad-752, Malappuram-893, Kozhikode-1065, Wayanad-411, Kannur-779, Kasaragod-210.
With this, the number of active cases became 95,828 in the state. 47,06,856 were recovered from the disease so far.
