Kerala records 22,182 new COVID cases, 178 fatalities
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 22,182 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, informed health department in a press release. With 178 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 23,165.
The district - wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur-3252, Ernakulam-2901, Thiruvananthapuram- 2135, Malappuram- 2061, Kozhikode-1792, Palakkad-1613, Kollam- 1520, Alappuzha-1442, Kannur-1246, Kottayam-1212, Pathanamthitta-1015, Idukki- 973, Wayanad-740 and Kasaragod-280.
A total of 1,21,486 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 8 in 2507 wards in 678 local self-governments.
5,54,807 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 5,27,791 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 27,016 people are in hospitals. 1881 people were taken to hospitals on Thursday.
Among the 1,86,190 active Covid cases reported, only 13.4 percent patients are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.
89 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 21,122 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 866 patients remains unidentified. 105 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 26,563 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district - wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram – 2446, Kollam-2159, Pathanamthitta-981, Alappuzha-1425, Kottayam-1831, Idukki-987, Ernakulam-3362, Thrissur-2992, Palakkad-1913, Malappuram- 2878, Kozhikode-2930, Wayanad-835, Kannur- 1506 and Kasaragod -318.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,86,190 in the state. 42,36,309 were recovered from the disease so far.
