Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 2,802 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, informed the health department in a press release.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram-472, Ernakulam-434, Thrissur-342, Kozhikode-338, Kottayam-182, Kollam-172, Kannur-158, Malappuram-138, Alappuzha-134, Pathanamthitta-120, Idukki-99, Palakkad-91, Wayanad-80, and Kasaragod-42.
A total of 50,180 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised based on the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 6 wards of 5 local self-government bodies. The test positivity rate was jumped to 5.58 percent.
1,04,957 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 1,01,682 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 3275 people are in hospitals. 149 people were taken to hospitals on Friday.
Among the 19,021 active Covid cases reported, only 10.7 percent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
Along with 12 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 66 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. With this, the death toll climbed to 48,113 in the state.
48 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 2,595 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 130 patients remains unidentified. 29 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 2,606 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-565, Kollam-176, Pathanamthitta-133, Alappuzha-95, Kottayam-286, Idukki-113, Ernakulam-414, Thrissur-35, Palakkad-78, Malappuram-120, Kozhikode-231, Wayanad-99, Kannur-164 and Kasaragod-97.
51,84,587people were recovered from the disease so far.
