Kerala records 13,832 COVID cases, 171 deaths
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 13,832 new Covid cases on Saturday, informed a press release issued by the health department. With 171 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 10,975.
Test positivity rate was declined to 12.72 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram-2234, Kollam-1592, Ernakulam-1539, Malappuram-1444, Palakkad-1365, Thrissur-1319, Kozhikode-927, Alappuzha-916, Kottayam-560, Kasargod-475,Kannur-442, Pathanamthitta-441, Idukki-312 and Wayanad-266.
A total of 1,08,734 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 2,11,26,248 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
82 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 12,986 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 700 patients remains unidentified.

64 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 14 each were from Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur, 8 from Pathanamthitta, 7 from Ernakulam, 6 from Thrissur,4 each from Kollam and Palakkad, 3 from Wayanad, 2 from Kasargod, 1 each from Alappuzha and Kottayam.
Meanwhile, 18,172 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 2167, Kollam-1666, Pathanamthitta-688, Alappuzha-1468, Kottayam-259, Idukki-314, Ernakulam-2718, Thrissur-1263, Palakkad-2054, Malappuram-2921, Kozhikode-1348, Wayanad-285, Kannur-652 and Kasargod-369.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,29,488 in the state. 25,75,769 people recovered from the disease so far.
5,45,000 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 5,13,897 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 31,103 people are in hospitals. 2132 people were taken to hospitals on Saturday.
Neither any place was added to the list of hotspots nor any place was removed from the list. Currently, there are 880 hotspots in the state.
