Kerala records 13,468 new COVID cases, TPR at 20.16 pc
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 13,468 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity rate was jumped to 20.16 per cent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram- 3,404, Ernakulam-2,394, Kozhikode-1,274, Thrissur-1,067, Kottayam-913, Kannur-683, Kollam-678, Malappuram-589, Alappuzha-586, Pathanamthitta-581, Palakkad-553, Idukki-316, Wayanad-244 and Kasaragod-186.
A total of 66,796 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised based on the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 6 wards of 5 local self-government bodies.
1,57,292 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 1,53,994 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 3,298 people are in hospitals. 461 people were taken to hospitals on Saturday.
Among the 13,468 active Covid cases reported, only 2.2 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
Along with 21 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 96 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. With this, the death toll climbed to 50,369 in the state.
120 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 12,553 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 691 patients remains unidentified. 104 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 3,252 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-412, Kollam-126, Pathanamthitta-156, Alappuzha-90, Kottayam-391, Idukki-169, Ernakulam-921, Thrissur-145, Palakkad-57, Malappuram-117, Kozhikode-271, Wayanad-71, Kannur-268 and Kasaragod-58.
52,11,014 people were recovered from the disease so far.
