Kerala records 12,443 COVID cases, 115 deaths on Saturday
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 12,443 new Covid cases on Saturday, informed a press released issued by the health department. With 115 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 11,948.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram-1777, Ernakulam-1557, Thrissur-1422, Malappuram-1282, Kollam-1132, Palakkad-1032, Kozhikode-806, Alappuzha-796, Kottayam-640, Kannur-527, Kasargod-493, Pathanamthitta-433, Idukki-324 and Wayanad-222.
A total of 1,21,743 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Test positivity rate was recorded at 10.22.
In total, 2,18,53,900 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
78 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 11,639 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 653 patients remains unidentified.
The district-wise statistics of contact cases: Thiruvananthapuram-1624, Ernakulam-1512, Thrissur-1404, Malappuram-1248, Kollam-1123, Palakkad-636, Kozhikode-795, Alappuzha-791, Kottayam-624, Kannur-463, Kasargod-479, Pathanamthitta-422, Idukki-308 and Wayanad-210.
73 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 15 were from Kannur, 10 each from Thrissur and Kasaragod, 8 from Thiruvananthapuram, 7 from Kollam, 6 each from Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam, 4 each from Palakkad and Wayanad, and 1 each from Kottayam, Idukki and Kozhikode.
Meanwhile, 13,145 recoveries were also reported in the state.

With this, the number of active cases touched 1,06,861 in the state. 26,78,499 people recovered from the disease so far.
4,55,621 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,27,754 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 27,867 people are in hospitals.2282 people were taken to hospitals on Saturday.
There is no change in the classification of places based on Test Positivity Rate(TPR).There are 178 local bodies with TPR below 8 percent, 633 local bodies with TPR between 8-20 percent, 208 local bodies with TPR between 20-30 percent and 16 local bodies with TPR above 30 percent. The number of tests will be increased on the basis of the TPR in the local bodies.
Athiyannur, Azhoor, Kadinamkulam, Karode, Manambur, Mangalapuram, Panavur, Pothankode in Thiruvananthapuram, Chittattukara in Ernakulam, Nagalassery, Nenmara, Vallappuzha in Palakkad, Thirunavaya in Malappuram, Mooppainad in Wayanad, Bedaduka and Madhur in Kasargod are the areas where TPR recorded above 30 percent.
