Heavy rain till Wednesday; IMD issues orange alert for three days


India Meteorological Department has issued orange alert for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki in Kerala for three days early next week.

New Delhi: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted the people of Kerala of heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightining in parts of the state.

Orange alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts for October 11, 12, 13. Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode from Monday to Wednesday.

Entire south of India, parts of Maharashtra and Gujrat are also under watch ('yellow alert').

The Met department said that heavy rain is expected in state till Wednesday.
