Heavy rain lashes Idukki, Kottayam; tiny landslide reported at Vandanpathal

Koottickal, Mundakkayam, Erumeli and Eerattupetta in Kottayam have been reportedly receiving heavy rain. The water level in Manimalayar has gone high and nearby houses witnessed a sudden gush of water.

Pala: Heavy rain lashes several areas of Idukki and the eastern side of Kottayam districts on Saturday.

Koottickal, Mundakkayam, Erumeli and Eerattupetta in Kottayam have been reportedly receiving heavy rain. The water level in Manimalayar has gone high and nearby houses witnessed a sudden gush of water.

The eastern areas of Kottayam had received rain only at night for the last two days. However, there was rain throughout from morning on Saturday.

Water logged in Erumeli, Kanjirappally, Mundakkayam and 26th Mile areas. Water gushed to Kanjirappally town areas too. Shop owners here have shifted commodities to safer zones. Traffic has been disrupted in these areas.

A tiny landslide has also been reported in Vandanpathal. Following it, mud-filled water entered the houses in the vicinity.

With the cyclonic circulation off the coast of southern Tamil Nadu chances for rain is predicted in Kerala till Sunday. The cyclonic movement has been moving and is staying close to Lakshadweep.
