Rainfall likely to continue; orange alert in 3 districts on Thursday

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in isolated places in the state on Thursday. According to the revised alert, heavy rainfall is likely in three districts only.

An orange alert is sounded in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki districts on Thursday. Yellow alert is issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram.

Heavy rain is likely in the hilly regions of Kannur, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Thrissur districts, as per the images obtained from the Kochi radar of the IMD.

A cyclonic circulation has been formed off the coast of southern Tamil Nadu. Following this, a yellow alert was sounded in several districts of Kerala till October 24.

The southwest monsoon is likely to withdraw from the entire country around October 26. Simultaneously, the northeast monsoon rains are also likely to commence over the southeast peninsular India from around October 26.
