Kerala police to launch Economic Offences Wing

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police will launch a new wing to deal with economic offences in the state.Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will virtually inaugurate the special wing named Economic Offences Wing on Wednesday at 4 pm.

The Economic Offences Wing aims to check the financial frauds which are on the rise in the state. A team of officials who have both technical expertise and experience in dealing with economic offences are appointed in this wing.

A total of 226 executive posts and 7 ministerial posts are created for this wing.

The inauguration of the new headquarters of the state special branch will be held along with the function.

It was in 2018, that the state government decided to construct a headquarters for the special branch after including the project proposal in the state plan scheme. The four-storey building of 38,120 square feet was constructed by spending Rs 8.41 cr. It has many facilities including 45 rooms, a conference hall and an auditorium.
