Mannar: In a fresh embarrassment to the Kerala Police, a video has surfaced showing a rower of its team pushing a member of its competitor off the boat to win a boat race.

In the video, it is seen that a paddler of Niranam Chundan (snake boat) rowed by Kerala Police team pushed the captain of the winning team off the boat at the 56th Mahatma Gandhi Boat Race held in Alappuzha.

The Cheruthana Chundan has lost balance and capsized as a result of this.

The police team won the race and received the prize at the event held later.

However, the spectators protested against awarding the prize to the police team. The force allegedly lathi-charged the protestors.

The home ministry has sought a report on the matter.
