Kerala Police, social media users share video of waterfall in Gujarat claiming it is in Idukki

Kozhikode: Kerala Police and several other social media users shared a video from Gujarat claiming the visuals are from Kerala.

Sharing the video of an overflowing waterfall, police said they were guarding the location to warn people against taking the route. They said the waterfall was in the Adimali-Neriamangalam route. A white colour Mahindra Bolero vehicle is seen in the video, similar to the ones used by Kerala Police.

In the comment section, police requested the people to stay vigilant. However, when users pointed out that the video was not from Kerala, police conveniently deleted the post.

While safety was the concern for police, activist CR Neelankandan felt the overflowing fall was the result of the 'development'. "This is development. The present situation of Munnar-Adimali road," said Neelakandan on his Facebook post while sharing the video.

He also deleted the post when pointed out the blunder. He later said that the post of Kerala Police was the basis for his comments.

The video is originally from the Dang district in Gujarat. ETV Bharat shared the same video on July 13 on their website. Interestingly, the video has also been shared as it was from Maharashtra, a fact-checking website said.
