Kerala police raid PFI strongholds in Wayanad, Palakkad


Palakkad: Kerala Police on Tuesday raided the houses and shops of some Popular Front of India leaders as part of the probe into the hartal. Raids were conducted at Chadanamkurissi, Kalmandalam and Sanghuvarathod in Palakkad and offices at Erumatheruv in Mananthavady in Wayanad. DySP led the raid in Mananthavady.

However, there is no information on whether any material was taken into custody during the raids.

Police had raided the PFI centres in Kannur in the last few days. Shops and houses of leaders in Kannur town, Valapattanam and Mattannur were raided in relation to the violence on the hartal day. They had taken electronic devices into custody.

Meanwhile, state police of Karnataka, Assam and Maharashtra have also raided PFI centres in the respective states and made several arrests on Tuesday.
