Kerala police invite tender to hire helicopter again
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala police have initiated the procedures to hire a helicopter again. The police department has issued an open tender notice for this purpose. The decision has been taken as the present helicopter contract was expired.
A twin-engine helicopter that can carry six people will be hired through the tender. The contract will be for three years.
As per the notice, the helicopter should not be older than 15 years and it has to fly more than 20 hours a month.
Earlier, Kerala police have used the helicopter of Pawan Hans. When the contract ended three months back, criticisms were raised against spending a huge amount for hiring the helicopter.
The opposition also alleged that the police department did not need a helicopter and termed the move as extravagant.
Amidst this, the department has initiated action to hire a helicopter again as directed by DGP Anil Kant.
