Kerala police warns people not to call back anonymous foreign numbers


There are reports that those who called back to the number after finding missed calls suffered huge loss in their phone balance.

As many people in Kerala have received phone calls from foreign countries, the police have warned not to attend fraud calls. The anonymous fake calls are coming from phone numbers beginning with +5. The warning appeared in their official Facebook page of Kerala Police.

It is learnt that the fraud calls started coming since Saturday morning. People recognized that they were fraud calls by evening. The calls came from many numbers beginning with +5. There are reports that those who called back to the number after getting missed calls had their balance money gone.

Some people who attended the calls were showered with abuses in English by the caller. Some others said that they could not hear anything when they attended the call. The fraud calls also comes from numbers beginning with +591, +365, +371, +381, +563, +370, +255, +1869, and +993.

The number starting with +5 is from Bolivia as shown in the smart phones. Police have confirmed this. Meanwhile, many have complained that they received calls from Kazakhstan, Iraq, Iran and West Indies. It is not clear whether the calls are really made from these countries or manipulated to appear so.

Police have urged the public not to call back these numbers and informed that the high tech cell have started probing the issue.
