Kerala Police arrest 2,234 people for evading lockdown; seizes 1,447 vehicles
Thiruvananthapuram: Police officials have taken stern action against people who violated the lockdown imposed to control the rapid spread of coronavirus. On Thursday, the Kerala police arrested 2,234 people and seized 1,447 vehicles for evading the lockdown.
It is reported that 2,098 cases were registered in the state on Thursday. With this, the number of cases has touched 5,710 within three days of the lockdown period imposed by the state government.
Alappuzha which recorded 214 arrests, topped the district to record the highest number of arrests in the state on Thursday. Police seized 180 vehicles in Pathanamthitta.
The highest number of cases was registered in Idukki. A total of 245 cases were registered in Idukki.
In Thiruvananthapuram, 222 people were arrested and 113 vehicles seized.
Meanwhile, Ernakulam recorded 155 arrests and reported 124 vehicle seizures. In Kozhikode, police arrested 140 and seized 124 vehicles on Thursday.
The Kerala Police have tightened inspections on Thursday, the third day of statewide lockdown as many people were not serious about it and continued to roam around.
