Devi Prasad
Angadipuram: Angadipuram native Devi Prasad has won the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, a civilian honour given by the Central government to prodigious children excelling in various fields. The award was given to Devi Prasad for the Best Percussionist in the Arts and Culture category.
Devi Prasad is the only recipient of the Rashtriya Bal Award from Kerala this year. The award includes a certificate and Rs 1 lakh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the award-winning children through a virtual meeting on Monday.
Devi Prasad received the award directly from the PM using blockchain technology in the presence of Collector VR Premkumar at the Collector's Conference Hall.
Devi Prasad is a ninth standard student of St. Joseph English Medium School in Puthanangadi. He has been studying percussion with CCRT scholarship from the age of 10. He is the son of Deepesh, a percussionist and clerk at Thirumandhamkunnu Devaswom and Praseeda, teacher at Al Fatah English Medium High School in Poopalam. Thiruvananthapuram native V Surendra is his guru.
