Ernakulam: “I did not want to make this a controversy. All I wanted was my baby back,'' said Anupama, the mother of the missing child to Mathrubhumi.com while speaking over phone from Thiruvananthapuram. '' I had spoken to many and enquired about my baby but no one gave me an answer. Repeated complaints to the police station, CPM leaders and chief minister did not produce any result. There was no one to help me and I was in a depressed state at that time. Later, the media took up the issue, the government and authorities intervened and it became a controversy. My fight is not against my father or anybody, it is to get my baby back."

She also said that it was from the ACP office, she got to know that the baby was with the Child Welfare Committee. “ That was the breakthrough. Soon after knowing about my baby, we filed a petition at the court. We hope we shall get justice.”

Indulekha, the advocate pleading for Anupama, told Mathrubhumi.com that, “Our request for the DNA test was approved by the court as the government did not object to it. Let us see what happens on Monday when the court convenes again.”

Vanchiyur Family Court in Thiruvananthapuram will consider again the petitions filed by Anupama, mother of the missing baby and the state government on Monday.

The court stayed all legal procedures related to the adoption of the baby on October 25. The court observed that it should be clarified if the baby was abandoned or handed over.

The government and the Child Welfare Committee had requested the court to temporarily stay the adoption procedures and filed a plea in this regard. Anupama also requested the court to permit a DNA test to prove that it is her baby. Since the request was not objected by any of the parties, the court granted permission for a DNA test.

In the meantime, reports came out that a couple from Andhra Pradesh adopted the baby. The Child Welfare Committee has informed the court that the baby was abandoned.

Anupama S Chandran had earlier alleged that her baby was taken away by her parents three days after delivery as they did not accept her relationship with Ajith.
