Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a strong worded piece written in Chintha Magazine, the ideological and political mouthpiece of CPM, has pushed back against the criticism over government’s Covid handling. Reiterating his earlier stand, the CM has stated that criticism is orchestrated to topple the Kerala Model alternative, but the government will "not step back an inch".
Targeting the critiques, the CM put forth a question that if the model followed by the Kerala is wrong, then which model should be imbibed. He has cited various proactive measures taken by the government in the state to handle the COVID-19 pandemic including the success of vaccination drive and oxygen allocation to justify his remark. Along with that, he has also listed the risk factors which makes Kerala more prone to infections.
The chief minister alleged that criticisms are raised in an attempt to demean the popular support that government has achieved for its efforts to contain the pandemic. He also criticised the union government for not allocating vaccines that are crucial in containing the pandemic. Some are trying to confuse the people and persuade them to let the guards off, he pinpointed in the write up.
