Insurance company ordered to pay Rs 5.76 crore compensation to man in Kollam

The compensation amount was granted to Sasthamkotta native Geminidas (55), owner of Gemini Heights in Sasthamkotta. The order states that until the total amount of Rs 5,76,52,564 is paid, Geminidas must be paid eight percent interest and expenses for the court.

Kollam: The judge of Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal in Kollam, M Sulekha, ordered an insurance company to pay compensation amount of Rs 5.76 crore to a man who suffered serious leg injury in a car accident.

The compensation amount was granted to Sasthamkotta native Geminidas (55), owner of Gemini Heights in Sasthamkotta. The order states that until the total amount of Rs 5,76,52,564 is paid, Geminidas must be paid eight percent interest and expenses for the court.

The accident took place on May 23, 2015. Geminidas was hit by a car as he was standing on the roadside near Kalloorkavu temple in Kollam. He suffered serious injuries on his right leg and is still ailing. Geminidas was a businessman in Sharjah. He could not continue his business after the accident.

The compensation amount was decided by taking into consideration his income back then, the possible growth in his income if the accident didn’t take place, his current impairment and age. P R Ravindran Pillai appeared as Geminidas’s lawyer.
