Dheeraj murder: Nikhil Paily confesses to crime, six more held


The police nabbed Nikhil Paily while he was attempting to flee in a bus from Karimanal in Idukki. Police had started a thorough investigation centring on his mobile phone location after he fled from the place following the attack.

Thodupuzha: Youth Congress Mandalam Committee president Nikhil Paily has confessed to stabbing and killing the SFI worker Dheeraj Rajendran in Idukki Government Engineering College on Monday. He told police that he was the one who stabbed Dheeraj. Police have taken 6 more into custody in connection with the case and have started questioning them. It is learnt that all six of them are KSU workers.

The State Police Chief informed that it cannot be confirmed at this point whether it was a planned murder or not. A detailed investigation is going on in the case. He also said that it is suspected that Nikhil Paily is the mastermind behind the murder and it must be looked into whether others were also a part of the plan.

The State Police Chief also dismissed the allegation that the police vehicle was not given to take injured Dheeraj to the hospital. He said that it is not known who raised such an allegation and that the students did not say anything when he talked to them. The SP added that police personnel were present on the campus as a part of the college union election.

Kannur native Dheeraj Rajendran was stabbed to death at Government Engineering College in Painavu on Monday. Dheeraj was a B.Tech Computer Science 7th semester student.

According to reports, he was killed following a brawl between the two groups amidst the college union election. It is also hinted that there were clashes between the two groups over the election. Two other students sustained serious injuries and were taken to a hospital.
