Checking tightened at villages on Kerala-TN borders; complete lockdown in Kanyakumari on Sunday

Nagercoil: The Tamil Nadu government has tightened the security around the villages along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border owing to the unprecedented spread of Covid. The police and health officers have started inspection in the border areas.

The officials are charging a fine on the people who are roaming without masks. Those who haven't administered the vaccine are being advised to take it soon. The vehicles coming from Kerala are being checked thoroughly. The district SP Bhadrinarayanan called for the support of people for executing the complete lockdown on Sundays.

He informed that 1500 policemen will be deployed for security. There is no ban on travel for medical purposes. Public transport won’t be allowed.

The district collector Aravind informed that more beds will be made available at Covid treatment centres.

1219 people tested Covid positive in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday. The test positivity rate stands at 12.8 percent. There are 4551 people currently undergoing treatment for Covid.
