Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 702 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity rate was recorded at 3.02 per cent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-155, Thiruvananthapuram-81, Kottayam-71, Kozhikode-67, Pathanamthitta-61, Kollam-48, Thrissur-47, Idukki-41, Kannur-35, Malappuram-34, Alappuzha-23, Palakkad- 19, Wayanad-13 and Kasaragod- 7.
A total of 23,238 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
16,540 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 17,541 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 500 people are in hospitals. 80 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
Among the 5,091 active Covid cases reported, only 10 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
Two deaths were reported within the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the health department reported 6 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. Apart from this, 53 more deaths recorded late due to the delay in obtaining the documents were also added to the list of COVID deaths. With this, the death toll climbed to 67,415 in the state.
Four of the new patients returned from outside the state. 669 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 28 patients remains unidentified. 1 health worker also tested positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, 903 recoveries were also reported in the state.

64,55,655 people were recovered from the disease so far.
