Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 1,223 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity rate was declined to 5.17 per cent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-227, Thiruvananthapuram-148, Kottayam-128, Thrissur-114, Kollam-110, Kozhikode-99, Idukki-82, Pathanamthitta-71, Kannur-57, Palakkad-53, Malappuram-44, Alappuzha-39, Wayanad-28, and Kasaragod- 23.
A total of 23,641 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
72,799 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 71,566 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 1,233 people are in hospitals. 181 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
Among the 12,868 active Covid cases reported, only 10 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
Along with 4 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 20 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. Apart from this, 59 more deaths recorded late due to the delay in obtaining the documents were also added to the list of COVID deaths. With this, the death toll climbed to 66,263 in the state.
Among the new patients, 3 were returned from outside the state. 1,107 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 101 patients remains unidentified. 12 health workers also tested positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, 2,424 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 328, Kollam- 339, Pathanamthitta-144, Alappuzha-132, Kottayam-229, Idukki- 161, Ernakulam-302, Thrissur- 286, Palakkad- 24, Malappuram- 383, Kozhikode- 183, Wayanad- 98, Kannur- 85 and Kasaragod- 30.
64,33,365 people were recovered from the disease so far.
