Kozhikode: Rajya Sabha MP Suresh Gopi on Saturday said that the Center government decision to withdraw the farm laws was intended for the sake of the country. He dismissed the allegations that the Center gave in to mounting pressure from the protesting farmers.
"The decision to repeal the farm laws may have come in the wake of national security reports submitted to the Prime Minister by representatives of Punjab, including some Congress leaders,” he said. At the same time, Suresh Gopi MP told the media that the agricultural laws were made for the benefit of the farmers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi revoked three controversial farm laws on Guru Nanak Jayanti that fell on Friday, almost a year after the laws were formed.
