Kerala man lives in henhouse; no documents in possession to prove identity

Pathanamthitta: The Thiruvalla municipality secretary was dumbfounded when he found a 48-year-old man living in a makeshift shed for housing hens, with no Aadhaar, Voter ID, or ration card to prove his identity. Madhu, a resident of Thengumparambu colony, was named in the list of 83 individuals who fall under extreme poverty in Thiruvalla municipality.

Municipality secretary Stalin Narayanan was left speechless when he met Madhu at his makeshift shed on Thiruvonam day. Until last year, he lived with his mother and a few hens in the hut. However, he was left alone after his mother passed away last year.

Madhu, who previously worked as a mechanic has been suffering from mental illness. He lives alone in the shed despite his family members living nearby. He was left confused when he met a bunch of visitors gifting him Onakodi and Onasadhya on Thiruvonam day. Later, the secretary informed him about the purpose of their visit and assured help to rehabilitate him.
