Shoranur: A passenger who made a fake bomb threat on the Thiruvananthapuram-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express has been arrested. Punjab native Jaysingh Rathore made the threat call to delay the train since he was running late.
Rathore had booked a ticket on the Rajdhani Express from Ernakulam on Thursday. But he missed the train. He then made a threat call to the Thrissur control room and left Ernakulam by bus. But he couldn’t catch the train since it had already left Thrissur station and the railway did not inspect the train at Thrissur.
However, the train was halted at Shoranur station for inspection. Learning about this, he hired an autorickshaw to take him to Shoranur.
Rathore boarded the train while checking was underway. The Railway Protection Force became suspicious when Rathore entered the train fearlessly. Upon questioning him, they found that though he had booked from Ernakulam, he had not boarded the train from there. Rathore eventually confessed to making the bomb threat call. However, he tried to convince the officers that it was his relative who made the phone call. However, his phone records proved he had made the call, said RPF sources.
The train was delayed for three hours due to the search.
Jaysingh Rathore had come to Kerala as part of his marble business.
