Kozhikode: Renowned historian Dr M Gangadharan passed away at his home in Parappanangadi. He was 89. His studies related to the Malabar rebellion are famous.
Gangadharan had been undergoing treatment for age-related ailments. He has won Kendra Sahitya Akademi and Kerala Sahitya Akademi awards.
Born to PK Narayanan Nair and Parukutty Amma in 1933, Gangadharan completed BA (Hon) in history from Madras University. He then became a central government employee in Madras. In 1986, he completed PhD in history. His thesis was on the Malabar rebellion. He has worked at Tavanur Rural Institute, Kozhikode Government College, and MG University.
