Kerala lynching: Selfie-man nabbed, named fifth accused
Agali: Finally, police have disclosed the name of the person who circulated a selfie taken with tribal youth Madhu in a tied up state. Mukkali Thodiyil Ubaid Ummar (25) named as the fifth accused in the case circulated the pictures in social media.
He has been booked under relevant sections of IPC and prevention of atrocities against scheduled tribe act, and various IT acts for circulating the pictures and video of manhandling Madhu. The major demand of the protesting tribal people was the arrest of Ubaid. They were seen repeatedly asking the police, if they have arrested the person who took selfie.
The natives had caught Madhu on Thursday afternoon from the teak plantation of forest department at Chindakki. Ubaid had shared the selfie photos and videos of Madhu. He had also tried to withdraw these pictures after it created a whirl of controversy.
There were allegations that Ubaid is the personal staff member of N. Samsudheen MLA, which the MLA denied. He further explained that Ubaid had only participated in the election campaign. When Thrissur Range IG M R Ajith Kumar visited the protestors who blockaded the road on Friday evening, they repeated the question if the selfie-man was caught and if they could see him.
