Kerala logs 7,823 COVID cases, 106 fatalities, 12,490 recoveries
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 7,823 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, informed the health department in a press release. With 106 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 26,448. The test positivity rate was declined to 9.09 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur-1178, Ernakulam-931, Thiruvananthapuram-902, Kozhikode- 685, Kottayam-652, Kannur-628, Palakkad-592, Kollam-491, Alappuzha-425, Pathanamthitta-368, Malappuram-366, Idukki-285, Wayanad-227 and Kasaragod-93.
A total of 86,031 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 332 wards of 227 local self-government bodies.
3,43,082 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 3,31,243 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 11,839 people are in hospitals. 752 people were taken to hospitals on Tuesday.
Among the 96,646 active Covid cases reported, only 11 percent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
35 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 7353 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 382 patients remains unidentified. 53 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 12,490 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries:
