Kerala logs 26,200 new Covid cases on Thursday; TPR at 16.69
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 26,200 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, health minister Veena George informed in a press conference. With 125 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 22,126. Test positivity rate was recorded at 16.69 percent.
The district - wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur - 3279, Ernakulam - 3175, Thiruvananthapuram - 2598, Malappuram - 2452, Kozhikode - 2332, Kollam - 2124, Palakkad - 1996, Alappuzha - 1604, Kottayam - 1580, Kannur - 1532, Pathanamthitta - 1244, Wayanad – 981, Idukki - 848, and Kasaragod - 455.
A total of 1,56,957 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 3,29,98,816 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 7 in the wards of 794 local bodies. Among them, 692 wards are in urban areas and 3416 are in rural areas.
81 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 24,999 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 1006 patients remains unidentified. 114 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 29,209 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district - wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram - 2390, Kollam - 2033, Pathanamthitta - 1184, Alappuzha - 1845, Kottayam - 2145, Idukki - 1114, Ernakulam - 2872, Thrissur - 2812, Palakkad - 2237, Malappuram - 3146, Kozhikode - 4488, Wayanad - 969, Kannur - 1649 and Kasaragod - 325.
With this, the number of active cases touched 2,36,345 in the state. 40,50,665 were recovered from the disease so far.
6,08,450 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 5,75,731 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 32,719 people are in hospitals. 2466 people were taken to hospitals on Thursday.
