Kerala logs 25,010 COVID cases, 177 fatalities, TPR at 16.53 pc
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 25,010 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, informed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during a press conference. With 177 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 22,303. Test positivity rate was recorded at 16.53 percent.
The district - wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur - 3226, Ernakulam - 3034, Malappuram-2606, Kozhikode- 2514, Kollam-2099, Palakkad-2020, Thiruvananthapuram-1877, Alappuzha - 1645, Kannur-1583, Kottayam - 1565, Pathanamthitta -849, Idukki-826, Wayanad-802, and Kasaragod - 364.
A total of 1,51,317 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 7 in the wards of 794 local bodies. Among them, 692 wards are in urban areas and 3416 are in rural areas.
6,21,039 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 5,88,784 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 32,255 people are in hospitals. 2412 people were taken to hospitals on Friday.
Out of the 2,37,643 active cases, only 12.9 percent of the patients are admitted to hospitals or field hospitals in the state.
102 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 23,791 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 1012 patients remains unidentified. 105 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 23,535 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district - wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram - 2385, Kollam - 2284, Pathanamthitta - 650, Alappuzha - 2035, Kottayam - 1451, Idukki - 544, Ernakulam - 2722, Thrissur - 2833, Palakkad - 1815, Malappuram - 2537, Kozhikode - 1909, Wayanad - 393, Kannur - 1520 and Kasaragod - 457.
The number of active cases touched 2,37,643 in the state. 40,74,200 were recovered from the disease so far.
