Kerala logs 22,129 new COVID cases, 156 deaths, TPR at 12.35 pc
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 22,129 new Covid cases on Tuesday, informed the health department through a press release. With 156 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 16,326. Test positivity rate was recorded at 12.35 percent. 13,415 recoveries also were reported.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Malappuram-4037, Thrissur-2623, Kozhikode-2397, Ernakulam-2352, Palakkad-2115, Kollam-1914, Kottayam-1136, Thiruvananthapuram- 1100, Kannur-1072, Alappuzha-1064, Kasaragod-813, Wayanad-583, Pathanamthitta-523 and Idukki-400.
A total of 1,79,130 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 2,65,36,792 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
124 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 20,914 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 975 patients remains unidentified.
The district-wise statistics of contact cases: Malappuram-3925, Thrissur-2606, Kozhikode-2354, Ernakulam-2301, Palakkad-1461, Kollam-1910, Kottayam-1063, Thiruvananthapuram- 1017, Kannur-973, Alappuzha-1047, Kasaragod-801, Wayanad-570, Pathanamthitta-500 and Idukki-386.
116 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 26 were from Kannur, 11 from Malappuram, 10 each from Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kasaragod, 9 from Wayanad, 8 each from Kottayam and Kozhikode, 4 each from Kollam and Idukki, 3 from Alappuzha, 2 from Thiruvananthapuram and 1 from Ernakulam.
Meanwhile, 13,415 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 859, Kollam-653, Pathanamthitta-393, Alappuzha- 603, Kottayam-801, Idukki-245, Ernakulam-1151, Thrissur-2016, Palakkad-1015, Malappuram-2214, Kozhikode-1758, Wayanad-325, Kannur-664 and Kasaragod- 718.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,45,371 in the state. 31,43,043 people recovered from the disease so far.
4,36,387 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,09,931 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 26,266 people are in hospitals. 2351 people were taken to hospitals on Tuesday.
There are 73 local bodies with TPR below 5; 335 local bodies with TPR between 5-10, 355 local bodies with TPR between 10-15 and 271 local bodies with TPR above 15.
