Kerala logs 19,675 new COVID cases, 142 deaths, TPR at 16.45%
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 19,675 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, informed health department in a press release. With 142 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 24,039. A total of 1,19,594 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate was recorded at 16.45 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur-2266, Ernakulam-2792, Thiruvananthapuram-2313, Kozhikode-1753, Kottayam-1682, Kollam-1225, Malappuram- 1298, Palakkad-1135, Alappuzha-1256, Kannur-967, Pathanamthitta-1011, Idukki-927, Wayanad-738 and Kasaragod-312.
The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 841 wards in 422 local self-governments.
4,81,195 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,57,822 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 23,373 people are in hospitals. 1701 people were taken to hospitals on Monday.
Among the 1,61,026 active Covid cases reported, only 13.3 percent patients are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.
52 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 18,924 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 595 patients remains unidentified. 104 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 19,702 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram – 1911, Kollam-1572, Pathanamthitta-1043, Alappuzha-1270, Kottayam-1236, Idukki-815, Ernakulam-2000, Thrissur-2386, Palakkad-1387, Malappuram- 1572, Kozhikode-2050, Wayanad-932, Kannur- 1253 and Kasaragod-275.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,61,026 in the state. 43,73,966 were recovered from the disease so far.
